Health at Every Size

Our bodies are not meant to be a battleground.

Let’s Face Facts

We’ve lost the war on obesity. Fighting fat hasn’t made the fat go away. And being thinner, even if we knew how to successfully accomplish it, will not necessarily make us healthier or happier. The war on obesity has taken its toll.

From the HAES Website

Shame-Free Pleasure

People are tired of diets, tired of feeling like failures, and tired of being scared of food. They are excited to find a paradigm that is committed to advancing social justice and respecting the diversity of human bodies (including, explicitly, larger bodies), a paradigm that starts from the very basic premise that they can trust themselves, one that respects pleasure rather than denial.

Fat Liberation

Health at Every Size® principles help us advance social justice, create an inclusive and respectful community, and support people of all sizes in finding compassionate ways to take care of themselves.

What HAES Means for Chaotic Galaxy

Committed to provide a safe, healing space for fat clients, Chaotic Galaxy will not ever ask for a weight measurement before offering Massage Therapy services. The massage table we use is specifically selected to be safe for all clients, regardless of weight. No assumptions will be made about diet, exercise levels, or medical conditions based on a client’s weight. It will never be implied that one’s health would be improved via weight loss or any form of dieting. Liberation of the marginalized frees us all.

Further Education

Fat liberation and the HAES ideology can often invoke very strong feelings. This is understandable based on our cultural conditioning around fatness and our bodies!
